Mantequerias Arias was founded in 1848 by Antonio Arias in the village of Corias de Pravia, in the Asturias region of northern Spain. The company then specialized in the traditional manufacture of artisanal butter.

At the beginning of the 20th century, motivated by his father's entrepreneurial spirit, Antonio Arias' son innovated and launched the production of cheese in the dairy, in addition to the Arias butter.

Created in 1991 by the Arias brand, Burgo was the first fresh cheese on the market to use ultrafiltration technology: an innovation that allowed it to offer better quality of conservation to consumers.

This new family of modern “quesos frescos” was an immediate success, and Burgo de Arias was invited to the Spanish table and became their favorite one!
